Exploring The Sci-fi-verse

In is post I am going to talk about science fiction television, namely, Doctor Who and Sanctuary. Why? Because on my friend's (let's call her Crazy Stalker Person) blog Sanctuary is improperly represented (okay it is represented well, but i disagree with some statements). and Doctor Who is crazy as batshit. (I thank my friend, Plane Dude, for the term batshit).

so let's start with 5 reasons I hate the Doctor Who reboot:

1. Rose Tyler - the doctor is not as crazy awesome as you think, David tennant told you that, go away you self-righteous love-monkey.

2. David Tennant's attitude - towards the end of the tenth doctor's tenure the doctor is lame. He just goes on and on about how he is supposed to be alone, he likes it that way. You know what I have to say to that? "If your so depressed, go cut yourself! oh wait you'll just regenerate, sucks to be you. Ha ha."

3. The plot twist at the end of The Impossible Astronaut part 1 - Steven Moffat a writer who ?i used to respect is now a total moron. He wrote a script where Amy was supposed to tell the doctor that he was going to die, she keeps saying, "there is something I need to tell him" over and over again. She finally remembers... Or so the audience thinks, you know what the surprise actually is? " [she's] pregnant." My immediate thought: "I hate you, go die, I hope the evil astronaut child eats your face off."

4. Matt Smith is stupid - he goes around and talks while somebody else, namely River, does the important stuff.

5. Finally, River Song - God, I hate that woman. I imagine that babies cry at the sound of her name. She steals the plot and she was only in one episode before the 6th season, now she is in every episode. And do you know what happened in that one episode before the sixth season, she died (applause). But Moffat had to bring her back, couldn't leave well enough alone, and now they might as well call the show Doctor Song, not Doctor Who. I think I've hated on her enough... Who am I kidding? I'm just getting started, but I'll save the rest for another post.

Sanctuary: Why Crazy Stalker Person Is Wrong

Okay, so she isn't entirely wrong, just mostly wrong. Crazy Stalker Person is under the impression that Nikola Tesla and Magnus are the best characters on the show. Incorrect! in fact the two supreme characters are John Druitt (a.k.a. JACK THE GODDAMN FUCKING RIPPER) and Bigfoot, who are played by the same actor, but none the less. John Druitt is awesome because he is everything that Tesla isn't: he's loyal, and helpful, and chivalrous while Tesla just traps the Sanctuary team in random places looking for stuff that will make him less stupid than he already is (not likely). In summary: Tesla=jackass, Druitt=JACK THE GODDAMN FUCKING RIPPER. So now onto why Bigfoot is better than Magnus. Amanda Tapping is annoying, you watch her and think "Good going Miss Try-to-hard" she seems super smart and able but most of the time she just delegates stuff to Will, Henry, and Kate while she goes to conferences. But Bigfoot is a gentle giant, he is super huge but he does the dusting, he spruces up the Sanctuary with flowers and junk and he actually cares about abnormals - because he is one. Magnus is like, "their endangered I must care about them" but Bigfoot is, "I understand their pain, I must help them." It is the difference between helping children in Africa because you want them to live a better life or because you will eventually study them to see what you can learn. So in summation; Magnus=greedy, Biggy=caring. Sanctuary is pretty awesome though, on that point I agree.

  1. OH MY GOD YOU WATCH SANCTUARY AND DOCTOR WHO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

John is pretty awesome too. I like him a lot, but you have to admit, Nikola gets some pretty hilarious lines, even if he is a jackass. xD I like John best when he's kicking butt - like when Adam opened his transporter thing in Hollow Earth and he was all, "AW YEAH how cool am I, I just escaped and I'm gonna kick major ass, WHY THE FUCK IS JACK THE RIPPER COVERED IN BLOOD AND COMING FOR ME MOTHER HELP." I like John too. I just am not looking forward to the inevitable episode where they get the electric elemental out of him and he is no longer homicidal. That is not going to be very fun.

Amanda Tapping is God. That is all.

Bigfoot is pretty good too, and I really like how they're giving the character more lines (and funny ones at that! Did you catch the Twilight reference in the second episode?), but still. Nikola Tesla is sexy. You cannot argue with that.

As far as Doctor Who goes, I love him. Tenth Doctor will always be "THE Doctor" in my mind, but I love how the Eleventh Doctor is batshit crazy. It's awesome. The modern Sherlock Holmes, but with a time machine! W00T! I don't know what to think about River yet. I think she has awesome hair.

    But my point remains:

    OH MY GOD YOU WATCH SANCTUARY AND DOCTOR WHO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  2. You realize that the Doctor isn't exactly "modern," right? Also I think the evil light thing was already exorcised, and Tesla, while having kickass lines is a nuisance to every plot line he is in. I stand firm!

  3. If the electrical elemental had been 'exorcised,' he wouldn't have written Magnus a message in blood. Pwned the albinos? Sure. Pwned Worth, who is TOTALLY not dead? Hell yeah. But written a message in blood? No. That kind of rage is only possible for our dear Jack when possessed. And when I said 'the modern Sherlock Holmes' I was referring to the extremely attractive and possibly gay (pity) Sherlock as being modern, as opposed to our extremely aged Doctor. (He's aged like 200 years in 5 seasons. WTF) Although he's modern-ish as well.

And Tesla is hilarious. Come on. The show wouldn't be the same without him. Sleepers (season 2, ep. 10) is the show's best episode yet, although the second episode of the third season was extremely epic as well.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EPISODE, EH PUNK?

  4. Fave ep? Vigilante. And John had a lot of blood around to write with, his blood in case you didn't notice, it wasn't like a writing in pen would have sufficed, and that symbolized a) revenge against Adam, and b) Druitt's badassery.

  5. True, Vigilante was pretty good. But the blood he was covered in was from the albinos, was it not?
